What gets a reply

Corrections. These get read first and answered fastest. If something on this site is wrong, I want to know, and the page will say it was changed. Readers who work in horticulture — extension agents, commercial growers, nursery people — are especially welcome to point out where a page has oversimplified or got it wrong.

Questions about something I have written. If a page was unclear, say so; it usually means the page needs fixing rather than that you missed something.

Permission to reuse. Ask and I will usually say yes.

What will not get a useful reply

Diagnosing your plants from a description. I am not able to do this well, and guessing at it does more harm than good. Your state extension service will identify a problem from a photo, often within a day, at no cost — search for your state's name plus "cooperative extension" to find your county office. They will give you a better answer than I can, and one calibrated to your region.
